Just a Retro Girl, Living in a Geeky World...

Wow, my first blog post.  How did I get here?  The usual - I went to mke a comment on someone else's blog, ened up making a template and decided to start a blog!  Of course, it helps that I recently watched the movie "Julie & Julia" about cooking, blogging and finding your real self.    Then my sister started a blog, The Rediscovered Kitchen, which you can find at http://www.rediscoveredkitchen.blogspot.com/

So what am I going to write about?  I think a little bit of everything.  I feel like I'm 2 people: the techno-geek who wants every new shiny toy that comes out and can surf the web all day long; and the retro-nerd who loves the smell and feel of books, and wants to make everything by hand and from scratch!!  Maybe retro isn't the right word - maybe I should say Renaissance Girl because I STILL want to do it all!  (If onlyIi didn't need sleep!)  But then you wouldn't have that Journey song stuck in your head, would you??

So this blog is going to be a mish-mash of recipes, how-to's, cool sites, and things that I think work (and maybe save time/money), just making life more enjoyable.  Because I think we get so busy doing things we (think) we need to, we forget that life is a journey, not a destination.

Today's tips:  Get Avast antivirus for your computer (it's available as a free version - for home use only).  Try to stop by Archiver's today (Sunday 8/8/10) as they have FREE make and take cards - just for the joy of making something with your own hands.  Then use either the card or the computer to say hi to someone you haaven't talked to in awhile - it will bring a smile to your face!

Now, I'm off to make a banner for a farewell party (using my Cricut machine - more on that later), and I need to make a card, and bake something to take, and get a marching band uniform @ 10am - so I guess I need to run!
